THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of of biodegradable implants and their surrounding tissue with a focus on soft tissue applications with the aim of scientific qualification (doctorate)
  • use and further develop methods for static and operando high-resolution X-ray computed tomography of the implants and the tissue, as well as machine learning methods for image processing for quantitative image analysis
  • performing correlations and statistical analyses of the results to enable the prediction of material behaviour
  • present your research at scientific conferences and publish them in peer-reivewed journals
  • scientific teaching in the amount of approx. 4 semester periods per week in the form of tutorials and practical courses in the field of X-ray based materials characterization (winter and summer semester), with the aim of enabling students to work scientifically own their own
  • concept, prepare, examine and correct scientific academic performances of the students
  • build up, develop and administer the lecture-related practical (programming) courses
  • support the acquisition of third-party funding

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in physics, engineering, materials science, mathematics or a comparable field
  • experience in materials characterization using X-ray imaging or X-ray-based methods
  • experience in image processing, and working with Python or Matlab
  • prior knowledge in implants and their interaction with the body is desirable
  • proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken is required
  • knowledge of the German language or the willingness to learn it in a short time is desirable
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one's own scientific qualification
