The tasks to be performed make up part of a joint research project with well-known industrial and research partners with the aim of developing ammonia-powered, climate-neutral marine engines - “AmmoniaMot2”. The advertised position is for a team member in a larger project team at the LKV department. Modern laboratories and extensive optical as well as laser-optical measurement technology are available for the research work to be carried out.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of climate-neutral fuels with a focus on optical analyses of injection and mixture formation
  • use of a modern high-pressure, high-temperature injection chamber to analyze spray formation and fuel evaporation on large engine fuel injectors
  • apply and further develope of optical and laser-optical measurement methods, test bench measurement technology and evaluation routines
  • apply, commission and carry out tests on and of test injectors
  • design lay out and build test bench components (e.g. high-pressure fuel systems)
  • evaluate, document, present and publish research results
  • cooperate and exchange information with project partners, prepare research reports in coordination with the chair holder and within the scope of the project
  • supervise students for assignments as part of the project

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in the field of mechanical engineering, physics or a comparable engineering or scientific field with preferably good results
  • good knowledge in the field of combustion engines, fuel injection or the use of optical and laser-optical measurement methods to solve engineering problems
  • preferably good knowledge of design and test bench construction as well as programming and data preparation with MATLAB
  • a good command of written and spoken German and/or English
  • ability to work in a team and communication skills for dealing with project partners in research and industry
