At the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Chair of Solid Construction, subject to budgetary provisions, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for a period of 3 years:
Research Assistant (m/f/d) - specialising in sustainable concrete construction
EG 13 TV-L, full-time employment, 40 hours/week, limited, qualification position
Tasks and Responsibilities
- research in the field of structural engineering and building materials science (focus: sustainable concrete construction) with the aim of scientific qualification (habilitation)
- participate in the planning and development of laboratory facilities for building materials research in concrete construction
- take on scientific organisational tasks
- scientific teaching in the amount of approx. 4 hours per week (SWS) in the form of teaching and exercise courses in the field of structural engineering and building materials science, whereby the research-based transfer of specialist knowledge and skills to students is central and they are instructed to work scientifically on their own due to the scientific nature of teaching
- work on research and other third-party funded projects and participating in the application process for research projects
- publish research results
Requirements
- completed university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in civil engineering or a related engineering or applied natural science
- completed or nearing completion doctorate in the field of structural engineering or a related engineering or building materials science
- scientific expertise in the following area, proven through scientific publications in indexed/refereed journals or compendiums:

Sustainability and circular processes in concrete construction, including Recycling/Reuse, Life-Cycle Engineering, design and applications with low-impact concrete and automations for climate friendly concrete construction
- experience in experimental research on concrete materials and components, in the preparation of research proposals and in the acquisition of third-party funding
- desirable is experience in the following areas: Digital methods in civil engineering, non-linear material modelling, artificial intelligence, applied statistics or probabilistics, structural safety or reliability, robustness and climate resilience of structures, concrete structures in maritime areas, underground structures
- experience and willingness to teach and, in connection with this, a good command of German and English in writing and speaking
- willingness to achieve, ability to work in a team and confident demeanour, independent and proactive way of working
- willingness to work with commitment and dedication towards the realisation of own scientific qualification

- Employment relationship in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) with the employer Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, represented by the University of Rostock
