The University of Rostock offers you a diverse, varied and challenging job in a tradition-conscious, yet innovative, modern and family-friendly university in a lively city by the sea.
At the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Institute of General Electrical Engineering, Chair of Electromagnetic Field Theory, we are filling the following position, subject to allocation of funds, as of 01.07.2021 for a limited period for the project interdisciplinary SFB 1270 “Electrically Active Implants – ELAINE“ until 30.06.2025:
The research will be conducted as part of an interdisciplinary collaborative project and offers the opportunity for a PhD. The PhD student will be responsible for developing comprehensive computational models for deep brain stimulation (DBS) in rodents. This requires the implementation of numerical techniques to describe complex states of brain networks during DBS and goes hand in hand with experimental work by collaborating partners, e.g. in-vitro (in-vivo) data acquisition and processing to derive realistic dielectric properties of brain tissue. The developed in-silico models are used to guide in-vivo studies by exploring an extensive parameter space with in-house open-source software, which is further refined to perform highly efficient electric field modelling for electrode arrays.
Equal opportunities are important to us. We welcome applications from suitable severely disabled persons or persons of equal status. We aim to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore encourage relevantly qualified women to apply. We welcome applications from people of other nationalities or with a migration background.
In principle, the position is also suitable for part-time employment. If corresponding applications are received, it will be examined whether the part-time wishes can be met within the scope of the official possibilities.
The fixed term of the employment relationship is based on § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.
If desired, the staff council can be consulted in the selection process. Please enclose an informal application with your application documents.
We look forward to receiving your online application with informative documents by June 20, 2021 at the latest. Only applications received via our application portal will be considered.
Unfortunately, application and travel costs cannot be covered by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
