The school has been established between the universities of Rostock in Germany, and Ottawa and Calgary in Canada. In their applications interested candidates shall select three potential PhD projects provided on the IRTG website https://www.iqs.uni-rostock.de. Selection of the successful candidates will consist of a two-step process: an initial selection of candidates who will be invited for interviews, followed by a final selection of the 10 fellows, each working on an individual project. The employment contract is limited to three years. The positions are to be filled from 01.04.2026.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research within the IRTG IQS on a specific science project with the aim of obtaining a scientific qualification (doctorate)
  • opportunity for a research stay of several months at a Canadian partner university
  • publish research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (Diploma/Master or equivalent) in Quantum Science or related subject (physics, engineering etc) with preferably very good results
  • confident knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one´s own scientific qualification (doctorate)
  • very good communication skills for presenting research results and ability to work in a team for interdisciplinary work groups
