We are seeking highly motivated candidates for the newly-established Collaborative Research Center "WETSCAPES 2.0", funded by the German Rearch Foundation (DFG). Doctoral researchers will gain insights into multiple aspects of this interdisciplinary project, building comprehensive knowledge of WETSCAPES 2.0's research themes and specialized expertise in their chosen topic. The integrated research training group "WETSKILLS" provides structured doctoral trainings, preparing participants for excellent career opportunities in academia and industry.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of vegetationecology with the aim of gaining a scientific qualification (doctoral degree)
  • preparing, conducting and evaluating vegetation surveys and recording accompanying environmental conditions
  • analyzing spatial patterns and temporal development paths of vegetation in rewetted fens, including shallow water areas
  • close exchange with the project partners
  • presenting research activities at project meetings and international conferences
  • publish research results in peer-reviewed journals

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed scientific university studies (state examination, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in biology, landscape ecology, vegetation science, geoecology or comparable subject area with at least good results
  • demonstrable previous knowledge of plant species (algae also welcome) and vegetation mapping as well as script-based data analysis
  • experience in publishing research results is desirable
  • a good command of written and spoken English
  • minimal level of physical ability to conduct for field work in the peatlands
  • ability to drive university cars (driving license class B or comparable)
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project for your own scientific qualification
  • communication skills for the presentation of research results and the ability to work in a team in interdisciplinary working groups
