THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research and publication activities in the field of American Studies, with particular emphasis on Native American and Indigenous Studies, Settler Colonial Studies, Decolonial Studies, and Environmental Humanities, with the aim of obtaining an academic qualification (doctoral degree)
  • academic, research-based teaching amounting to 2 semester hours per week in the field of American Studies for the teacher-training programs in English and the B.A. programs in British/American Studies, with the aim of enabling students to conduct independent academic work
  • designing, preparing, administering, and grading students’ academic performances in different exam formats
  • contributing to the research areas of the Chair of American Studies and supporting the organization of academic events
  • supporting the Chair and the Department of English Studies in academic and administrative matters

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master’s degree) in British/American Studies with a focus on American Studies with preferably good results
  • confident command of English, both written and spoken
  • knowledge of German is desirable; willingness to acquire or further develop German language skills is welcome
  • compatibility with the research interests of the Chair is desirable (Native American and Indigenous Studies, Settler Colonial Studies, Decolonial Studies, Environmental Humanities)
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one’s own academic qualification
  • teaching aptitude and the ability to work in a team
