Job Advertisement P 211/2023

The University of Rostock offers a diverse, varied and demanding job in a tradition-conscious, yet innovative, modern and family-friendly university in a lively city by the sea.

At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Physics, subject to allocation of funds, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis ending on 30.06.2026 with the option of continuing employment for project extension:

Research Assistant (m/f/d)
EG 13 TV-L, part-time employment, 20 hours/week, limited, qualification position

Tasks and Responsibilities

The extension of attosecond metrologies from atoms and molecules to nanostructured solids, and particularly to the study of strong-field electronic phenomena at the interface of metals and vacuum, could substantially broaden the scope of ultrafast science to systems of fundamental interest and technological impact. Indeed, driving the motion of electrons at the surface of nanostructured metals with optical fields could enable a new class of vacuum nanoelectronics perating at PHz frequencies. It could also enable novel electron diffraction microscopies with attosecond temporal and picometer spatial resolution. The tasks include primarily experimental research, but some modeling of the experimental data will be also essential. The research project is embedded in the framework of the new DFG collaborative research center 1477 "Light-Matter Interactions at Interfaces (LiMatI)" and in the activities of the department Life, Light  Matter.

The University of Rostock offers a broad spectrum of study programs to more than 15.000 students. It is divides in nine faculties, which are cross-linked by the faculty of Interdisciplinary Research. The faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science comprises four research institutes.
