THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of structural concrete engineering (focus: sustainable low-emission/circular concrete construction and digitalisation/automations in structural engineering) with experimental and computational methods with the aim of scientific qualification (habilitation)
  • independent proposal development and acquisition of externally funded research projects, and participating in the application process for research projects
  • work on research and other third-party funded projects in the above-mentioned field
  • scientific organisational tasks
  • scientific teaching in the amount of approx. 4 semester hour per week in the form of teaching and exercise courses in the field of structural engineering, whereby the research-based transfer of specialist knowledge and skills to students is central and they are instructed to work scientifically on their own due to the scientific nature of teaching
  • participation in the organisation and realisation of scientific events
  • publish research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in civil engineering or a related engineering or applied natural science
  • completed or nearing completion doctorate in the field of structural engineering or a related engineering science
  • scientific expertise, evidenced by publications in well-regarded, peer-reviewed and indexed journals in the field of:
    • Structural analysis, design, and applications using environmentally friendly concrete, supported by digital tools and automations
  • very good foundations in computer programming, structural concrete analysis and design, and concrete technology
  • experience in experimental testing on concrete materials and/or components
  • experience in Finite Element Analyses with non-linear materials
  • experience in the preparation of research proposals and in the successful acquisition of third-party funding
  • experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage, but not a prerequisite: automations in construction, machine learning and applied statistics or probabilistics, life-cycle engineering, concrete structures in maritime areas, underground structures with prefabricated or sprayed linings
  • willingness to teach and supervise students
  • minimum physical aptitude for work in the environment of a laboratroy for structural engineering
  • confident knowledge of the German and English language, both written and spoken
  • willingness to actively pursue your own scientific qualification (habilitation) and commit to a well-defined project toward this purpose
  • willingness to achieve, ability to work autonomously, proactively and collaboratively in a team with a confident demeanour
