THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • Research in the field of crop genetics with the aim of achieving scientific qualification (habilitation)
  • Conducting research with a focus on the genetic analysis of complex traits in crop plants
  • Planning and carrying out experiments in plant breeding, association mapping (GWAS), QTL mapping, transcriptomics, and molecular biological analyses
  • Analyzing large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatic and statistical methods
  • Developing independent research projects, acquiring third-party funding, and supervising doctoral researchers and students
  • Providing research-based academic teaching (4 SWS) in the field of crop genetics (tutorials, practical courses, field excursions), with the aim of enabling students to conduct independent scientific work
  • Designing, preparing, administering, and grading academic assessments
  • Supporting academic organizational tasks (study program coordination, committee work, supervision of research groups and international collaborations)
  • Publishing research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • Completed university degree (state examination, diploma, master’s degree, or equivalent) in agricultural sciences, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, with at least good results
  • Completed PhD in one of the above-mentioned disciplines
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in genetics, gene mapping, transcriptomics, botany, bioinformatics, and plant molecular biology
  • Extensive laboratory experience with DNA and RNA techniques
  • Experience with field trials and phenotyping
  • Solid knowledge of statistical software
  • Proficient use of bioinformatic and statistical analysis tools for the evaluation of genome-wide datasets
  • Proven ability to conduct independent scientific work, including the planning and execution of own research projects
  • Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong team-working skills combined with a high degree of independence and commitment
