The University of Rostock offers a diverse, varied and demanding job in a tradition-conscious, yet innovative, modern and family-friendly university in a lively city by the sea.
At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute for Biology, Department of Marine Biology, subject to budgetary provisions, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for a period of three years with an option of possible prolongation and following permanent employment:
The research of our group focuses on understanding the physiological and molecular mechanisms and ecological consequences of the effects of multiple stressors on marine invertebrates. We are looking to expand the bioinformatics capabilities of our research group and therefore particularly welcome highly motivated candidates with expertise in bioinformatics who are interested in combining physiological and molecular studies to assess the mechanisms and limits of stress tolerance in marine organisms. Adequate participation in the teaching of the research group as part of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in biology and marine biology is expected. A successful applicant is expected to establish an independent research focus within the broad field of ecological and stress physiology of marine organisms supported by external funding.
Equal opportunities are important to us. We welcome applications from suitable severely disabled persons or persons of equal status. We aim to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore encourage relevantly qualified women to apply. We welcome applications from people of other nationalities or with a migration background.
In principle, the position is also suitable for part-time employment. If corresponding applications are received, we will consider whether the part-time wishes can be met within the scope of official feasibilities.
As the position is also eligible for employees who are already employed on a part-time basis at the university due to the range of hours, we examine within the scope of official possibilities whether an increase in working hours is possible as a result of the application.
The temporal limitation of the employment relationship is based on § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.
If desired, the staff council can be consulted during the selection process. Please enclose an informal request for this with your application documents.
We look forward to receiving your online application with the following convincing documents by July 31st, 2021: motivation letter, CV including education, experience in sciences and teaching, list of publications, speeches and papers, third-party funds and other relevant experiences, description (1 - 2 pages) of prospective working focus and list of three persons who are willing for giving a reference.
Unfortunately, application and travel costs cannot be covered by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
