THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • conduct research in the field of ecophysiology of marine invertebrates, focusing on topics closely aligned with the department's research profile, with the aim of developing an independent research program
  • publish research findings and secure third-party funding through grant applications
  • provide scientific, research-based teaching in Marine Biology, contributing to both Bachelor's and Master's programs, as well as teacher training programs, with a teaching load of approx. 8 semester hours per week
  • participation in field research, including the leadership of practical field courses
  • contribute to the organization, coordination, and ongoing development of the Master's program in Marine Biology
  • supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses
  • design, prepare, administer and evaluate examinations for students
  • support academic and administrative tasks related to teaching and research, including study organization and committee work

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in Zoology, Physiology or a related field, along with a completed Ph.D. or one nearing completion. Please provide a statement from your supervisor regarding the current status of your doctoral work.
  • several years of relevant research experience in the eco-physiology of aquatic animals, with a proven track record of publications
  • experience in writing and successfully securing third-party funding is highly desirable
  • experience in university-level teaching and academic administration is preferred
  • minimum level of physical fitness for year-round fieldwork
  • confident knowledge of the German and English language, both written and spoken
  • excellent ability to work on schedule, strong communication skills for presenting research results and ability to work in a team for interdisciplinary work groups
