We are looking for an outstanding and committed person for a research project on the topic of colloidal nanoparticles. The working group for photonic nanomaterials combines prepara­tive techniques with spectroscopic and microscopic methods for the synthesis and investigation of novel nano­structures. We offer a versatile, varied and interdisciplinary work environment on the border between chemistry and physics. Of particular interest are semiconductors of the I-III-VIclass of semiconductors. The successful applicant will be working on a topic that combines, to equal parts, wet-chemical synthesis and spectroscopic work.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of colloidal nanocrystals with the aim of scientific qualification (doctorate)
  • synthesis and characterisation of colloidal nanomaterials and nano-heterostructures using spectroscopic and microscopic analytical methods
  • publish research results
  • take part in scientific conferences and discussions

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in chemistry, nanoscience, or physics with preferably good results
  • good knowledge of physical chemistry (thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum mechanics)
  • confident and safe handling of wet-chemical work under inert gas atmosphere
  • confident knowledge of the English language, written and spoken and preferably knowledge of the German language
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one's own scientific qualification
  • ability to work independently on new topics with curiosity, creativity, and passion for research
  • communication skills for presenting research results
  • ability to work in a team for interdisciplinary work groups
