THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • research in the field of bioenergetics and stress physiology of marine organisms
  • plan and conduct physiological, molecular, and biochemical experiments on marine invertebrates, including animal care
  • scientific teaching in the amount of approx. 4 semester hour per week in the form of lectures in the field of marine biology, ecophysiology and invertebrate zoology at the B.S., M.S., and teacher certification levels, whereby the research-based transfer of specialist knowledge and skills to students is central and they are instructed to work scientifically on their own due to the scientific nature of teaching
  • supervise bachelor's and master's theses
  • lead and organize fieldwork for B.S. and M.S. students
  • design, prepare, grade, and review students' academic work
  • support scientific organizational tasks (study organization, committee work)
  • publish research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in biology, physiology, or a related field, with the best possible grades
  • completed Ph.D. in biology, physiology, or a related field is preferred
  • proven experience working with aquatic organisms
  • research experience in the field of ecophysiology and/or ecotoxicology
  • minimum physical fitness requirements for fieldwork in coastal and tidal zones
  • confident knowledge of the German and English language, both written and spoken
  • experience in university teaching and in supervising or co-supervising theses is a plus
  • experience conducting fieldwork in marine environments is desirable
  • proof of publication capability (at least one academic publication) is desirable
  • proven ability to formulate your own scientific research questions and to plan and conduct experiments is an asset
  • excellent communication skills for presenting research findings, as well as strong teamwork and collaboration skills for working in an international and interdisciplinary environment (including laboratory, field, and teaching contexts)
  • class B driver's license (passenger car) is preferred
